Building Project - South Africa

Description: volunteering on the community Building Project: As a Volunteer, you will assist the Co-ordinator with buying materials, helping manage the building on-site, ceiling cracks, waterproofing, Cementing Floors and helping out in General.The working hours vary, but usually we work from 9-5, dependant on the weather. You may choose to build a half day or a full day, the option is yours.The project runs Monday to Friday or 3 days a week, you may choose your times when you get here.With this project we are able to : evangelise, Prayer for People, prepare Bible Studies with their Families, Build their homes, we do prayer walks and hand out food through-out the townships too, and we offer sports to the children in the houses after school hours (a seperate Project)When Volunteering at the Building Project, you will assist with putting roof Sheets on Houses, Cementing Floors, Hammering Plastic Black sheeting on houses to Protect them from the Rain, or Building with Bricks and Stones. As a team we go around the houses in the Poorer Communities and we ask the people of their needs. We then Prayer for them and Give them support at the time, and then we offer to Help them Fix up their homes. We work alongside the people living in their houses as they do usually offer to help us with fixing their Homes. This is a Great Cultural Experience for our team of volunteers. You will get to experience firsthand how it is to live in these conditions and it is so rewarding to reach out your hand to some-one that does not have as much as you do.As a team we build with the owners of the houses and we improve their living standards. The Project is really rewarding as you will be helping to shelter a family that is practically living in the Rain. Founder Mandy Weschta says”: Whilst we are lying in our Dry beds in our warm homes, 40 million people are lying in a bed fill of water. I think that the more helpers we get to help this cause, the more people can live more comfortably and dry Out of the Rain. The standards these people live in are really sad. Together we can Help the Community and add Hope into their lives whilst giving them a comfortable and dry place to live in. Our Volunteers have already built a few houses in the Community, and we are praying for More Volunteers, so Please do spread the Word.Additionally to the above, Our organisation runs the Following Projects throughout the Communities and Township:Swimming lessons for the childrenSurfing lessons for the ChildrenSoccer coachingFeeding projectPraying for people and mentoring into their livesA recycling project each fridayWe provide the schools with Party and we face paint all the small children and offer educational Programs.

What do your fees pay for? Registration Fee- marketing costs, pre-departure information and liaising with our staff via email before you depart, administration costs, web-design costs, Internet access in the office for our staffs use to communicate with you.

Program Fee – Airport pick ups Mondays and Tuesdays, Welcome orientation to St francis (near Jeffreys Bay) or Cape Town and a free surf lesson (please request this at Orientation if you wish to have one), program supervision, accommodation and self catering kitchen during volunteer placement period, and In-country administration costs, housing, electricity, water, food for the surf school and Soccer Project.
