Our Project aims to change as many childrenÂÂÂÂÂ’s lives as we possible can, the Project has been running for over a year now and has already made a valuable impact on the community. It welcomes volunteers coming over from all over the world to help teach the children and make a difference to the community and help the less-privileged. The project was founded with the aim to get children off the streets and away from begging, to give them something constructive to do with their time whilst ministering into their lives and telling them about Jesus Christ.Mandy the Director says: “We have started the project to add back to our community in South Africa, too many children are suffering with no food and places to live, so we thought it was time we did something to change the sad suffering. We aim at getting the childrenÂÂÂÂÂ’s lives focused on going to school, engaging in healthy eating habits and to also create a stable Christian based foundation in their lives and make them happier. I was sick of seeing children resorting to substance abuse because of disadvantages in their upbringing. I wanted to make them happier so I decided to do something about it. Now itÂÂÂÂÂ’s so amazing to see the change that has taken over their lives since the project started. They are much happier and healthy now. This is the most rewarding feeling for me and “You” the Volunteer”. During surfing advice on healthy eating and teaching the children manners and private counselling for if the children needs someone to talk to about their day to day problems at home- the counselling is done by Mandy and Our other Co-ordinators and possibly the volunteers. We currently teach ±50 children per week, and have our fulltime boys that we are trying to encourage not to resort to substance abuse for short term relief from their circumstances (they say they have stopped). We have made them leaders, so they pray with the other children and they are taken to Hillsong Cape Town church every Sunday (Thanks to Hillsong for sponsoring the buses that take the children to church).Want to learn how to surf ‘free ‘of charge or get better at surfing whilst helping the Community of South Africa? Come to our white sandy beach in Muizenberg near Cape Town and learn how to surf and then teach the less privileged children how to surf You don't need to be a Surf expert to apply; you only need enthusiasm and loads of energy and a passion to impact on the lives of the less privileged children in our country. Watch them improve and progress in standing and balancing on the board. You will experience firsthand their enthusiasm as they take to the waters for the first time. The project aims at changing as many childrenÂÂÂÂÂ’s lives as we possible can, giving the less Privileged ‘hopeÂÂÂÂÂ’ and support for the future while building their passion for a great sport. You will also have free time where you may explore and experience Cape Town adventure; you could dive with sharks, hike through the stunning Cape region, sky dive, etc...The adventure is endless. Oh and Guess what?? Our staff can sort you out discounted SafariÂÂÂÂÂ’s as you are a Volunteer. The surfing Project is all for the Glory of God and helping the less Privileged children so if you are keen to make a difference in a less privileged childs life then pack your bag and come and Give a little bit of Joy to a poor childÂÂÂÂÂ’s life.SOCCER PROJECT:The programme Runs : Monday, tuesday – Thursday, Friday. It welcomes volunteers coming over from all over the world to help teach the children and make a difference to the community and help the less-privileged. The project was founded with the aim to get children off the streets and away from begging for money after school hours, to give them something constructive to do with their time whilst ministering into their lives and telling them about Jesus Christ through sports Developement.Mandy the missionary says: “We have started the project to add back to our community in South Africa, too many children are suffering with no food and places to live, so we thought it was time we did something to change the sad suffering. CHILD-CARE/ ORPHAN CARE:The Child Care Project involves working with children from 3 different educare centres in the township, namely, Sunrise Educare Centre, Ithemba and Little Shine. The children at the educare centres are children from very poor backgrounds and some of them have no parents and are being looked after by members of the community. The educare centres were started out of a desperate need for parenting and caring as many children were left alone to care for themselves and had no one to look after them. The centres aim to provide excellence in child care by working hand in hand with the community and all those who are willing to offer their time to help ensure that the children receive as much love and care as possible. The centres also focus their passion in caring for children into excellence in the centreÂÂÂÂÂ’s activities in order to strengthen child care. The centres are operating in the hands of their staff members. They are all operating and catering for needy children, sometimes the numbers get too much, which means there is a great need for volunteers. The children are from the ages of 1 to 6 years old. The Centre is run by very capable staff, thus as a volunteer you will not come to South Africa to carry all the load of caring for the children. The aim at the centres is to ensure that children grow up with stable and positive foundations. That they too will grow up to be strong and responsible citizens of our country. Our Project aims to change as many childrenÂÂÂÂÂ’s lives as we possibly can, the Project has been running for over 3 years now and has already made a huge impact on the community. Many children in South Africa cannot afford to go to school due to the effects of poverty. This project will focus on equipping children with skills for the future to help them make better life choices in the future. The Teaching Project aims to assist a school through support in different ways. Volunteers will help to teach children English and other subjects that will improve their future, whilst passing on skills and sharing cultural points of view. You don't need to be a teacher to take part in this rewarding and fun-filled Teaching Project. All you need is a heart for poor children and eagerness to make a difference, at the same time; you will be gaining valuable experience yourself. The project will be with primary school children as this is the best stage to equip children with life valuable skills and support. The project is a real delight as youÂÂÂÂÂ’ll be working with children who really want to learn, and perhaps learn something from them in return. The school you will be volunteering at is quite small and you will instantly feel as though you are part of the family. This means that class sizes are also fairly small and very manageable, normally ranging from 20 to 40, although occasionally you may have smaller classes. Your main duty as a volunteer will be to assist teachers at the school. You will start as an assistant to the teacher and once your confidence and ability have grown, you'll be allowed to take classes on your own. The children are generally excited and very friendly; you will instantly be welcomed in by groups of children running up to greet the new teacher. This is a voluntary program and there is a fee involved, which includes all assistance in structuring your placement, your accommodation and general running costsARTS AND CULTURAL HIV/ AIDS PROJECT:Based at the Vrygrond Community Centre, this is one of our most rewarding projects, within the centre there are lots of opportunities where help is needed such as: Helping train people up to get jobs, teaching them life skills and computer skills and them people support. Helping out in the food garden, pre-school and after school facility. This project is rewarding as you will be helping people that are infected with a disease that you cannot catch from them, however you can give them support with the struggles they have to fight the disease and enjoy lots of smiles and happy moments with them.Volunteers now have a chance to make a real difference in a real way. The arts and culture project provides volunteers to help at our community based organization which cares and supports people and children living with HIV/Aids. The centre accommodates destitute HIV positive women with children, where they are offered counselling and support, care for their children, skills training, healthy eating, social work services and a market for their products. The women at the centre are given training in a variety of skills, such as beading, sewing, patchwork, smocking and embroidery. The community centre also has pre and after care for children living with HIV/Aids as well as a food gardening project for its residents.. The centre prides itself in he fact that over four years there has not been any AIDS-related death, all because of the care the centre provides to its residents. Volunteers will have a wide range of programs to choose from at the centre and you may visit each part of the centre whilst volunteering. Whether be it helping with any of the skills programs the centre provides, caring for the children, teaching or helping with the food gardening project, your help is highly need and will be met with great appreciation. Volunteers are also welcome to change to/between any of the programs offered at the community centre. TEACHING LESS-PRIVILEGED CHILDREN:Education is one of the important needs of children and it is their key to a better and brighter future. The Art Project aims at teaching children from an early age how to use their time and hands productively. We believe that Art is an important subject, not only on its own but in the rest of education as well. Through art, a lot of children will be given the chances to learn new skills, which they can use to generate income and help their families. The Art project involves teaching less privileged children at a township primary school how to tap into their creative side because creativity is the basis of many art projects. Therefore, this project will help equip the children in using any resources they have skilfully. This will also enable the children to think for themselves in more productive and creative ways. Many less privileged children usually resort to bad habits when they have nothing to do, this project will help give them skills to use to occupy their time in a meaningful and safe way. As a volunteer you will be assisting with Art lessons, drawings crafts and playing games. Your role will also be to motivate and be a positive influence to the children as they will be looking up to you. This project gives you an opportunity to add value to a childÂÂÂÂÂ’s life.
