Description

To support the church’s core values, mission statement, vision and various ministries.

To handle the day to day operations of the church and managing money by dealing with budgets, bills, payroll and cash flow.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Works with the church accountant to develop a budget, approve purchases and manage cash flow.

•Prepares the payroll for all employees of the church.

•Keeps personnel records; hires and fires church administrative staff members.

•Maintains office equipment and office supplies.

•Supervises other clerical or administrative staff members.

•Assists the senior pastor with communications by handling written correspondence and phone messages.

•Manages the church’s website, newsletter, magazine, bulletin, announcements and other

publicity.

•Tracks church attendance and keeps reports on file.

•Keeps the pastor’s appointment calendar and the calendars of associate pastors and other staff members.

•Ensures that the physical buildings belonging to the church are well-maintained by contacting repairmen and overseeing their work.

•Maintains all insurance policies associated with the church and keeps an inventory of all church property including vehicles and equipment.

•Administers the records of the church and official documents.

•Keeps the master church calendar and makes sure there are no conflicts.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

•strong verbal and written communication skills.

•Pays close attention to detail and has excellent record keeping abilities.

•Possesses strong technological abilities and has knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

•Has the ability to operate standard office equipment.

•Demonstrates knowledge of and is able to apply standard bookkeeping skills and accepted accounting practices.

•Possesses the ability to skillfully coordinate the work of a large group of volunteers.

•Has knowledge of and supports the church’s mission statement, beliefs and commitment.

Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans
