Back in the mid 1970's Suzuki, along with the other Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, were all striving to come up with the latest design and technology to capture the world market for two wheeled transportation. With that said, the Suzuki executives and engineers decided that the Wankel rotary design was the wave of the future for the riders of that era, as well as for decades to come. Looking back on it today, we can appreciate the RE5 for exactly what it is, an exercise in design with all of its really cool features including a very well thought out and expertly machined engine, its Italian designed canister style instrument cluster with flip top cover, cylindrical shaped tail light and completely round turn signals. The magazines of the day praised the RE5 for its handling (even though it weighed in at around 250 Kg), as well as its sound and smoothness. This beautiful time capsule of art and design would make a nice showing at any motorcycle event or show, in a collection or museum. These well kept early Japanese bikes are skyrocketing in value and this rare beauty is certain to be a sound inveatment for some time to come.

There were only 4200 produced from 1974 to 1976. In an effort to boost sales Suzuki changed the styling mid 1975 by changing the speedometer cluster and taillights to a more conventional look.

The bike on offer is one of the extremely rare early models that still left the factory with the cylindrical speedo cluster and taillights making it even more sought-after.

Where else would you find another RE-5 for sale, let alone one in this superb condition.
